		<description>You are not obligated under general rules of etiquette to get the mother-to-be a gift unless you are attending the shower.  I would not worry about offending her, especially given the formal relationship between the two of you.  If you were close friends with the mother then a gift would be expected.  What you might want to do is just to send a card as a compliment and thank you for the invitation.</description>

Just get something very simple like a pack of socks or booties, a couple of cute bibs, a couple of onsies and a card. Family Dollar, Dollar General have stuff like that for $1 to $3. You never know she might become your boss again in the future.</description>
